FAQ's

How do I get to the wedding?

>
FROM WALES
For those coming from Wales, there are a few options.

1) If you’re catching the train, here are just a few possible routes:
- Cardiff Central > Darlington
- Cardiff Central > Birmingham New Street > Darlington
- Cardiff Central > Bristol Parkway > Darlington
- Cardiff Central > Birmingham New Street > York > Middlesbrough
- Cardiff Central > Birmingham New Street > York > Thornaby

Although we're sure Trainline / Trainpal will be able to tell you the quickest route!

NB – Darlington station is 25 minutes drive away from the venue, Middlesbrough station is 10 minutes drive away from the venue and Thornaby station is 9 minutes drive away from the venue.

2) There are flights from Bristol Airport to Newcastle Airport and then the venue is a one hour car journey away from Newcastle Airport.

3) If you’re feeling brave, the journey is around a 6 hour drive.
FROM LONDON
For those coming from London, the easiest way to get to us is by train. There is a Grand Central service train that travels from Kings Cross station direct to Eaglescliffe station every two hours. From Eaglescliffe station, it’s then a 14 minute taxi or two short buses which should take 30 minutes.

Alternatively, the drive is around 4 hours 30 minutes.

Additionally, for those wanting to travel as close as possible on from Darlington or Eaglescliffe stations by train, Thornaby station is a 9 drive away from the venue and Billingham station is a mere 7 minute drive away from the venue.
FROM BILLINGHAM / NORTON / STOCKTON / MIDDLESBROUGH
For those coming from Billingham/Norton/Stockton/Middlesbrough, we're sure you’ll figure it out.
Note – The postcode will direct you to St Cuthbert’s Church, but please make sure you come to the Vicarage on Church Road next door as that is where our ceremony will be taking place.

Are you accepting wedding gifts?

>
As the old saying goes, “Your Presence is Present Enough” but if you would like to contribute to our big day, we ask kindly if, in lieu of presents, people could donate to our Honeymoon Fund via this link:

app.collectionpot.com/pot/iwan-and-sally-honeymoon

Where can we stay the evening before/of the wedding?

>
Here are a list of hotels near the wedding venue and their distance by car:

o Premier Inn Wolviston – 9 mins
o Hampton by Hilton in Stockton – 10 mins
o Kingswood Guest House, Stockton – 5 mins
o Highfield Hotel By Greene King Inn, Middlesbrough – 12 mins
o Premier Inn Tees Barrage, Stockton – 10 mins
o Premier Inn Preston Farm, Stockton – 12 mins

There are also a few options on Airbnb and Booking.com for larger groups.

Camping?

>
If you’d like to camp at the venue, we have a small adjacent private garden that is available to pitch tents in with access to a small toilet block and an outdoor shower. Space is limited, so if this is something you would be interested in, give Sally a call on 077920 00228 or Iwan on 07932 074151.

Where can I park?

>
There are a few parking spots dotted around outside of St. Cuthbert’s Church next door but not many. We recommend drop-offs and pick-ups where possible.

Are Plus Ones/Children allowed?

>
Although we’d love to have everyone at our wedding, we’ve had quite the job keeping numbers as low as we can so unfortunately plus ones and children are not invited.

What should I wear?

>
It will be a summer wedding, so (fingers crossed) it should be warm, we just want to see everyone looking smart and happy. Side note - if you are planning on wearing high heels just be aware that a lot of the day will be spent on grass!

Can I take photos?

>
We have a photographer who will capture our ceremony, so we would kindly ask you to refrain from taking photographs during this time. Feel free to get snap happy during the reception, we would love to see all of your photos, but please wait until we’ve posted our photos first before posting anything on social media.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

>
Our ceremony (weather permitting!) will take place outside, but the reception and evening merriments will take place in our heated Tipis. We will encourage you, however, to make the most of the garden throughout the day if it is mild or sunny!

When is the RSVP deadline?

>
Please let us know by March 1st if you’re attending or not.

Are you getting married in the church?

>
No, both the ceremony and reception will take place at The Vicarage just to the right of St. Cuthbert’s Church. You will find a small street (Church Road) that leads to the gates of the vicarage.

What's happening the day after the wedding?

>
We will be having an informal gathering at The Vicarage on Sunday (the day after the wedding) from 1pm. There will be a BBQ provided and it’s a chance to debrief and unwind after the previous night’s antics! Food and some beverages will be provided but feel free to bring a bottle of something if you fancy. There’s absolutely no pressure to attend the ‘Debrief BBQ’ , but all are welcome.

Honeymoon Fund

We are over the moon that you can join us on our special day and that is present enough. However...
If you did want to give us a gift for our wedding, then contributing towards our honeymoon fund to Canada would be an ideal way to do so.

We are planning a fortnight-long, whistle-stop tour across Canada in September 2026, starting in Vancouver and ending in Toronto, trying to see and do as much as possible in between! Feel free to contribute as little or as much as you would like here:
